September 7, 2001 - Without a doubt, Super Smash Bros. Melee has seen drastic improvements over the Nintendo 64 original. To give fans a better idea of how much attention to detail has been put into the development into the game Nintendo has once again updated its Japanese Dairanto Smash Bros. Premium DX website. New details and pictures show off some of the details the untrained eye might miss.

For example, Nintendo is quick to point out that physics have been tweaked to the designers' perfection. They wanted to see objects bounce according to gravity and slide with friction. Right down to the specific coefficients, the creators saw to it that objects moved correctly. If you look at the following picture, you can see that Princess Peach's dress actually blows in the wind because she is standing on top of the moving Great Fox ship. Of course when she runs and jumps her hair and dress move and flow with the action.

Also mentioned is that like the Nintendo 64 Smash Bros., Nintendo of America will change some things with the game. In the N64 version you may not know but the sounds of punches and attacks were dumbed down to make it sound less violent, and the almighty light saber sound was re-recorded to sound less like the Star Wars lightsaber. So for Super Smash Bros. Melee on GameCube, Nintendo has already confirmed one of Captain Falcon's alternate costumes dubbed the "Hell Hawk" will change to "Blood Hawk." That's about as edgy as Nintendo of America will get unless it is using the Conker's license.

Be sure to take a look at all the attached media to see all of the attention the finer details have gotten. And don't forget, Super Smash Bros. Melee launches on December 3rd. Cherish these screens and all related media until then.
