This first module introduces the students to the fundamentals of International Political Economy (IR/IPE), and some basic conceptual tools that are central to understand the subject. Therefore, it is an important module for students interested in pursuing further studies in IR/IPE and even development studies. The Global Political Economy (GPE) framework is applied to provide a firm understanding of the evolution of the GPE by examining changing historical contexts/periods, actors, institutions, processes and dynamics.
