The Executive Director will be responsible to the board for the strategic development, finances and management of the Africa Media Initiative (AMI). AMI has been created to foster a vibrant, sustainable independent media that supports Africa's progress towards an information society, strengthens critical and pluralistic voices on the continent and produces and distributes high-quality African content.
The postholder will need to work establish excellent working relationships with the multinational board and a wide range of senior figures within the donor community and within the media world in Africa.

Since 2006 the BBCWST has run a journalism development project for Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. This project produces an online magazine for young Iranians. The heart of the development project consists of a series of journalism training courses using a blended methodology of online learning and face-to-face workshops.
The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and maintaining the editorial, presentational and technical aspects of the Iran Project family of websites, including the management of related online communities. S/he will ensure that Iran Project's Websites are supporting the training objectives devised by the Training Manager.

S/he will provided support for the recruitment of trainees, monitor their progress and support their learning; deploy trainers and mentors as necessary and help them to deliver training using appropriate techniques and resources.
