Fraggle Rock
In October of 2006 the Jim Henson Co. tapped Ahmet Zappa to write a screenplay for a Fraggle Rock movie. We hadn't heard any word on the production since. Now, approaching two years later, The Weinstein Co. has picked up the project to create a live-action musical feature.

Before you ask, yes, Ahmet Zappa will be onboard the production as exec producer. TWC has picked up Cory Edwards, the same director that helmed Hoodwinked!, to sit in the director's chair for the adapation.
Pic will take the core characters Gobo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober and Red outside of their home in Fraggle Rock, where they interact with humans, which they think are aliens.
The acquisition by TWC follows a new trend by the studio to aggressively compete in the family market.
"One of our main priorities when we first launched the Weinstein Company was to feature a broad range of family-friendly franchises like Fraggle Rock," Weinstein said.
