2007 New Student Convocation

New Student Convocation is the first academic event of each year. The ceremony welcomes first-year and transfer students into the Georgetown University community, and it is a pivotal moment for both parents and students as they begin their undergraduate education on the Hilltop. The ceremony begins with the academic procession of alums, faculty and University leadership in their academic regalia. New students are addressed by leaders from the across the university--students, faculty, and senior administrators, including President John J. DeGioia. After the addresses, the new students don their robes, signaling their joining this academic community.
