HARRISBURG -- Secretary of Revenue Gregory C. Fajt today reported that the state collected $1.6 billion in General Fund revenue in August; $21.4 million, or 1.3 percent, less than anticipated. Fiscal year-to-date General Fund collections total $3.3 billion, which is $20.8 million, or 0.6 percent, below estimate.
Sales Tax receipts totaled $707.9 million for August, which was $11.5 million below estimate. Sales Tax collections year-to-date total $1.5 billion, which is $11.5 million, or 0.8 percent, below estimate.
Personal Income Tax (PIT) revenue in August was $612.1 million, which was $6.3 million below estimate. This brings year-to-date PIT collections to $1.3 billion, which is $6.2 million, or 0.5 percent, below estimate.
August Corporation Tax revenue of $73.8 million was $21 million above estimate. Year-to-date Corporation Tax collections total $152.5 million, which is $21.5 million, or 16.4 percent, above estimate.
Other General Fund revenue figures for the month included $60.6 million in Inheritance Tax, which was $11.5 million below estimate, bringing the year-to-date total to $121.5 million, which is $11.6 million below estimate.
Realty Transfer Tax was $58.3 million for August, bringing the total to $112 million for the year, which is $2.5 million less than anticipated.
Other General Fund revenue including the Cigarette, Malt Beverage and Liquor Tax totaled $114 million for the month – $10.5 million below estimate – bringing the year-to-date total to $194.5 million, which is $10.6 million below estimate.
In addition to the General Fund collections, the Motor License Fund received $194.8 million for the month; $18.3 million below estimate. Fiscal year-to-date collections for the fund total $445.2 million, which is $18.3 million, or 4 percent, below estimate.
