LIBYA’s champions Al-Ittihad embarked on their challenge in the CAF Champions League with a well deserved, but hard earned 1-0 victory over Angola’s Primero Agosto in their second round, first leg tie at the June 11 Stadium in Tripoli. But their slender lead leaves doubts as to their chances to progress even further in the competition when the return ties are played next week.

WHEN it comes to Basketball in Libya, the league championship, made up of 12 teams is proving very evenly balanced with defending champions Al-Nasser leading the way with 15 points from eight matches. But it looks as if they would be hard-pressed to repeat last season’s feat.
