Our Patron - Archbishop Desmond Tutu

  • Born October 07, 1931, in Klerksdorp
  • Married Nomalizo Leah Shenxane on July 02, 1955
  • High school teacher from 1953 to 1958 
  • Ordained a priest in 1961
  • Studied and worked in England from 1962 to 1967
  • Taught theology in the Eastern Cape and Lesotho from 1967 to 1972
  •  Worked for a program of the World Council of Churches, in England from 1972 to 1975 
  • Dean of Johannesburg 1975 to 1976
  • Bishop of Lesotho 1976 to 1978
  • General Secretary of the South African Council of Churches 1978 to 1985
  • Bishop of Johannesburg 1985 to 1986
  • Archbishop of Cape Town 1986 to 1996
  • Chairperson of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 1996 to 2001
  • Was awarded more than 90 honorary doctorates between 1978 and 2000
  • His Curriculum Vitae lists 75 major international awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984
