The World Bank recently presented "Nicaragua Poverty Assessment 1993-2005." (PDF 2.14 MB). The report provides a timely reference on the most important challenges of reducing poverty in Nicaragua and helps identify various opportunities to enhance the impact of public actions on poverty.

PROJECT -In Nicaragua, from Pastures to Precious Woods. The Nicaragua Precious Woods Project, which began in August, 2006, plans to turn 600 hectares of privately-owned former cattle ranches in southern Nicaragua into new-growth teak forests.
PROJECT -“Atención a Crisis” Pilot Program in Nicaragua’s Drought Region. From November 2005 until December 2006, the Ministry of the family in Nicaragua (MIFAMILIA) implemented a pilot program in 6 municipalities of the drought region in the northern part of the country which had been affected by a severe drought shock in the previous year.
