'Air Mike' a rare bright spot in local aviation

Call it the little airline that could.
While all airlines are suffering from record-high fuel prices, Continental Micronesia has managed to stay profitable by nurturing its niche route between Hawaii and Guam.
It also has expanded its presence in Asia and the Pacific. Continental Micronesia's routes to eight Japanese cities today make up 70 percent of its business.
"The markets have been down a little over the last six months and we are all dealing with the fuel prices," said Walter Dias, Continental Micronesia's vice president of sales and marketing. "But we have actually been growing our market share of the total outbound Japanese traveler."
