The international inorganic chemistry journal Inorganica Chimica Acta recognized Professor Tim Warren in its special 40 th anniversary edition “Inorganic Chemistry – The Next Generation.” The editors of this journal, with valuable input from senior inorganic chemists around the world, identified and invited contributions from approximately 40 inorganic chemists worldwide under the age of 40. This issue features highlights from their research programs, suggesting some of the new directions that inorganic chemistry is likely to take in the 21 st century. “These young scientists were carefully chosen and promise to be among the leaders of the next generation of outstanding inorganic chemists,” states editor Prof. Richard Puddephatt in his preface to the special edition.

Prof. Warren’s contribution “ S -Nitrosothiol and Nitric Oxide Reactivity at b -Diketiminato Zinc-Thiolates” (Inorg. Chim. Acta2007, 360, 317-328) was co-authored by graduate student Matthew S. Varonka and describes ongoing efforts in the Warren lab to understand the reactions that nitric oxide, an important signaling molecule in biology, and its organic derivatives undergo at metalloenzymes.
