October 8, 2007: Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry

Georgetown University invites applications and nominations for Professor and Chair of the Department of Chemistry. We are seeking candidates with an internationally recognized research program, strong external funding, demonstrable leadership and administrative ability, excellent interpersonal skills, and a vision for enhancing the research and educational programs of the department. The position is open to all areas of chemistry. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in chemistry or a closely related field.

As part of Georgetown’s Master Plan for the Sciences, the new chair will have the unprecedented opportunity to lead the department in a period of rapid development including a new state-of-the-art science building targeted to open in 2010, subsequent renovation of the existing building to the same level, and significant growth in the number of faculty.

Applicants should submit curriculum vitae, the names of three references, and a summary of research and educational activity and plans. Nominations and applications should be sent to the Chemistry Chair Search Committee, Department of Chemistry, Georgetown University, Washington, DC 20057-1227 (email: chemsearch@georgetown.edu). Review of applications will begin November 30, 2007 and will continue until the position is filled.
