Our work in Russia

In Russia, the BBC World Service Trust has an extensive track record in journalism training, awareness programming and civil society development. Most of our efforts are channelled through local partners, particularly Moscow's Foundation for Independent Radio and the Eurasia Media Centre, in Ekaterinburg. More about our work in Russia.

    Serving a captive audience

    We worked with three Russian partner organisations to raise awareness of health, legal and civil rights issues in prisons across the Urals. This was achieved by establishing radio networks in six penal colonies and by training prisoners in basic journalism skills.  Read more
