The statistics on capital gains and capital losses aim to illustrate the composition and distribution of capital gains and losses among the population. The statistics are also used for forcasting the Government’s tax revenues and for studies of income distribution.

The statistics comprise the population that was registered in Sweden both 1 January and 31 December during the reference year of examination (year of income).
