Low net trade in August
In August 2008, Swedish exports of goods amounted to SEK 85.2 billion, while imports of goods amounted to SEK 83.8 billion. As a result, the net trade surplus was SEK 1.4 billion.

Import prices drop due to crude oil
From July to August Swedish import prices declined by 1.8 percent. Producer prices increased 0.1 percent on average and export prices increased 0.2 percent. Producer prices on the domestic market fell 0.2 percent.

Ten billion more in food revenues in 2007
Once again the Swedish grocery stores can report one of the best years ever. Food sales increased in 2007 by nearly SEK 10 billion or 5.3% and amounted to SEK 194.9 billion. Prices rose by 1.7%, and consequently the sales volume has increased by an entire 3.5%.

Service production in July
From 2008 onwards Statistics Sweden produces monthly experimental statistics over the service production. Swedish service production decreased by -2.5 percent in volume and working day adjusted figures in July 2008 compared with July 2007.

Households continue to borrow
Households' financial savings amounted to SEK 25 billion during the second quarter 2008. Savings were supported by bank deposits and a high rate of insurance savings, but were driven down somewhat by the net sale of shares and funds and a relatively large increase in borrowing.

Lower growth for lending to households
The annual growth for lending to households in the Monetary Financial Institutes (MFIs) dropped to 10.2 percent in August, compared to 10.5 percent in July. This is the lowest growth rate since March of 2004. In August 2007 the annual growth rate for household loans was 11.7 percent.

Industry spends one billion more on environmental protection expenditure
In 2007 Swedish industry spent nearly SEK one billion more for environmental protection expenditure compared to 2006. Total environmental protection expenditure amounted to roughly SEK 9.6 billion in 2007, of which investments accounted for SEK 3.3 billion while current expenditure amounted to SEK 6.3 billion.
