SNEN Centre Manager appointed

Northern Communications Centre Operations Manager Inspector Karen Wilson is taking on the new role of SNEN Centre Manager.

Karen started out with Police 28 years ago in Auckland Central and has remained in Auckland since, moving from general duty roles into investigation with the (then) CIU, and then on to be Officer in Charge (OC) of Ōnehunga station for five years. After 18 months as OC station Glen Innes, Karen was seconded as a Senior Sergeant to North Comms.

Within six months she had been promoted to Inspector at Northern Communications Centre and took on the role of Acting Centre Manager in August 2005. Karen was then appointed as the Centre's Operations Manager.

Experiencing the challenges of managing a communications centre inspired Karen to take on the role of managing the new SNEN centre.

She says she feels encouraged by the support she’s had from the Communications Centres National Management Group and other managers while being in management roles at Northern Communications Centre, and is confident that this support will help her to get the SNEN centre up and running effectively.
