new office building of Xinhua News Agency's Middle East Regional Bureau opened on Nov.26 in Cairo.
Some 200 guests including Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Wu Sike, vice president of Xinhua News Agency He Ping and Egyptian government officials attended the opening ceremony.
Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador Wu said he hoped that with improved working conditions and advanced communication technologies, Xinhua Mideast Regional Bureau will make more contribution to the cooperation between China and the Arab world.
He Ping said,"since Xinhua Mideast Regional Bureau was founded in Cairo in 1985,,all news stories in Arabic and English written by Xinhua correspondents in the region have been sent to the Mideast Regional Bureau instead of Beijing headquarters for editing, thus reinforcing timeliness and competitiveness of Xinhua news reports."
Alongside the Nile river in Cairo's Maadi district, the new office occupies 1,100 square meters and the usable floor area is 6,700 square meters, including offices and staff's residential area. |
