A Weekend of Social, Cultural and Intellectual Engagement
Whether you call New York City a home, workplace or vacation destination, there’s a whole new, unique New York experience awaiting you this spring. At the 2009 John Carroll Weekend, held on April 16-19, 2009, enjoy exclusive access to New York’s intellectual, art and entertainment scenes, with Georgetown as your guide.
Join Georgetown alumni, faculty, students and friends for a weekend of learning, attending lectures and panels at venues ranging from the New York Public Library to the United Nations. At the second-annual Georgetown Global Forum, share an intimate audience with global policymakers, industry leaders and scholars as they discuss “Profit, Policy and Philanthropy – The Key to Global Development?”
Then feed your mind while moving your feet, exploring New York’s history, art and culture through walking tours and other excursions led by some of Georgetown’s favorite faculty and professors. From an event at the Polish Consulate, honoring former Georgetown professor Jan Karski, to an in-depth look at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, led by President Emeritus Leo J. O’Donovan, S.J., gain special insider’s access to New York’s local treasures and famous sites.
Let stimulating days invigorate you for dynamic nights, as more one-of-a-kind events unfold after dark. Gather under the stars at the Tent at Lincoln Center to celebrate Georgetown’s distinguished alumni and friends honored at the John Carroll awards banquet. Throughout the weekend, enjoy events at New York hot spots, from receptions on the Hudson, at the newly-reopened Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, to the stunning rooftop of Hudson Terrace.
