Laura Ingraham '85, MSNBC News Correspondent, will speak about the presidential campaign on Monday, Oct. 9. The 10th annual Brooks Family Lecture, titled "Campaign Countdown: The 2000 Presidential Election" will take place at 4:30 p.m. in 3 Rockefeller Hall.
Prior to hosting MSNBCS's "Watch It," an irreverent daily look at the political and cultural events in Washington, D.C., Ingraham was a regular contributing analyst to the cable network and frequently appeared on "The News with Brian Williams" and "Imus in the Morning." Ingraham continues to rise in popularity within the arenas of politics, business and entertainment.
A graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Virginia Law School and former editor of the Virginia Law Review, Ingraham served as a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. After two years of service, she went on to practice criminal defense law at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in Washington, D.C. After three years with the firm, Ingraham decided to further explore her opportunities in journalism. Her coverage and political analysis of the Democratic and Republican National Conventions for both CBS and MSNBC provided exposure and further confirmed Ingraham's place among political commentators. She has provided both legal and political analysis for CNN, Fox Morning News, C-Span, and "The Charlie Rose Show."
A frequent contributor to leading publications nationwide, Ingraham's columns have appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post and The Los Angeles Times, and The San Francisco Chronicle. Current projects include writing a book for Hyperion Publishers about women and politics as well as serving as an advisory board member of the Independent Women's Forum, a public policy organization promoting individual reponsibility and the free market.
