The Google Privacy Policy describes
how we treat personal information when you use Google's products and services, including information
provided when you use Google Calendar. In addition, the following describes our privacy practices
that are specific to Google Calendar.
Personal Information
- Account information and settings. To use Google Calendar, you need a Google
Account. Google asks for some personal information when you create a Google Account,
including your email address and a password, which is used to protect your account from unauthorized
access. A Google Account allows you to access many of our services that require registration.
If you already have a Google account, we may ask you for some minimal amount of information
to set up your calendars, such as your name, preferred default language, and time zone.
- Usage statistics. We may record information about your usage of Google Calendar, such as
when and for how long you use the service, the frequency and size of data transfers, and the
number of events and calendars you create. Information displayed or clicked on in your Google
Calendar account (including UI elements, ads, links, and other information) is also recorded
for the purposes described below. Every ninety days, if not more frequently, we permanently
delete usage statistics associated with your use of Google Calendar. We retain this information
beyond 90 days in aggregate form only.
- Calendars and events. You can create multiple calendars, each of which contain events. The
events on each calendar and all content associated with an event — including but not
limited to information such as comments, guest responses, and descriptions — are stored
and maintained on Google servers.
- Invitations and event notices. In order to manage your invitations, when you invite other
people to Calendar events, we collect and maintain information associated with those invitations,
including email addresses, dates and times of the events, and any responses from guests.
Uses
- Google's computers process the information on your calendars to offer you the best possible
service, including formatting and displaying the information to you, backing up your calendars'
contents, and delivering related information (such as related links).
- When you invite other people to Calendar events, your Google Account name will be identified
in the notice.
- Depending on the sharing preferences you choose for your calendars or individual events,
your name and other information associated with an event may be accessible by others.
- Google may send you information related to your Google Calendar account or other Google services.
Your choices
- Google Calendar provides you options for whether and how much you would like to share your
event information with others. Google Calendar enables you to make all or part of your calendars
(1) private and inaccessible by other users (2) accessible only by certain people of your choosing,
or (3) accessible by the general public, including via Google web search.
- You may change these sharing and access preferences, and all other Google Calendar settings
and preferences, at any time through your account.
- You can modify and delete events that you have created on your Calendars. Events to which
you have invited other people may continue to exist on their calendars event after they have
been deleted from your own.
- Because of the way we maintain this service such deletion may not be immediate, and residual
copies of your calendar information may remain on backup media.
