U.S. CPSC Releases New List of Safety Vacuum Release System Manufacturers

Owners and operators of public swimming pools had a deadline of Dec. 19, 2008, to be equipped with anti-entrapment drain covers and fittings conforming to ASME/ANSI standards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Wednesday, January 14, 2009, released a list of companies that manufacture safety vacuum release systems in various sizes that have represented to the CPSC staff to meet the ASME/ANSI A112.19.17 or ASTM F2387 standards. The CPSC will enforce compliance with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act as a consumer product safety rule. The CPSC does not provide approval or endorsements for any of these companies.

  With swim-team kids cannon-balling into a 20' x 8' pool atop a flower-festooned float, it's no surprise that the "Making a Splash" entry from Mission Viejo, CA, won the "Judges' Special Award" a couple weeks ago at the 2009 Rose Parade in Pasadena. The award is given to the float with the most spectacular showmanship and dramatic impact.
