How to use GUExpress

What is GUExpress?
GUExpress is a free service that allows you to dial in to a local number (202 area code) to access your e-mail account or use the Web from an off-campus location.

What can you do with GUExpress?

  • Surf the Web.
  • Use your Web browser to access your GUMail through GUWebmail.
  • Use a properly configured mail client to access your GUMail.

Who can use GUExpress?
GUExpress is available to all current Main Campus, Medical Center, and Central Services faculty, staff, and students.* All you need to use this service is your NetID and password, a computer with a modem, an ordinary phone line, and an e-mail or Web program (such as Mozilla).

Are there any limitations?
GUExpress is a dial-up service and is not intended to work with DSL or a cable modem. Connection times will be limited to 1 hour and 10 minutes per session. You should use an Internet Service Provider if you need longer connection times or modem access from long-distance locations. If you call from outside the local 202 dialing area, your phone service will probably bill you for a long distance call. Departments that wish to set up an 800 number for their employees should contact UIS Billing Services.

*Law Center faculty, staff, and students who are interested in remote access should contact the Law Center Information Systems and Technology (IST) Department. All aspects of information technology for the Georgetown University Law Center Campus community are planned, managed, and supported by the Law Center IST Department.
