Cal State Fullerton defeats Montana St 88-80

FULLERTON, Calif.: Josh Akognon erupted for 25 of his 29 points in the second half and Cal State Fullerton beat Montana State 88-80 Monday.

Point guard Jacques Streeter added 23 points as the Titans (6-6) avenged a 74-60 loss at Montana State on Dec. 9.

Akognon, the nation's third-leading scorer coming in at 25.5 points per game, hit only 2 of 7 shots in the first half and was burdened with three fouls. After missing his first shot of the second half, he hit a pair of 3-pointers 50 seconds apart to put Fullerton ahead for good at 41-35.

Fullerton finished 14-for-30 from the arc, one shy of the school record. Streeter hit five of them.

Erik Rush led Montana State (5-5) with 20 points, and Divaldo Mbunga added 15 points and 10 rebounds.
