Economists at Research Division
Sveriges Riksbank, located in Stockholm, is the central bank of Sweden. The Riksbank’s main tasks are to maintain price stability and to promote a safe and efficient payment system in Sweden. The Riksbank's main instrument for implementing monetary policy is the repo rate. As part of its financial stability policy, the bank makes regular assessments of risk levels in the major Swedish commercial banks and the financial infrastructure.
The Research Division consists of 12 full-time researchers with supporting staff, who conduct research in areas of importance to central banking, including macroeconomics, monetary policy, financial stability, and banking. The division hosts an international seminar series, has an active visitors program and has mutual visiting programs with the Federal Reserve System. Some staff members also teach part-time at a university. JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Research Division plans to fill vacancies for senior and junior economists, as of 2009. We are primarily interested in candidates with expertise in banking and finance, financial stability, monetary economics or macroeconomics. People applying for a position as a senior economist should have a solid research background in their field of specialization. People applying for a junior position are expected to have obtained a PhD, or be close to finishing their graduate education.
Candidates are expected to produce high-quality research for publication in peer-reviewed journals and to provide some support to the policy divisions at the bank. An ability to present complex issues effectively and to communicate research results and analytical findings to policy makers is therefore important.
