GOP Denies 'Party of No' Label

The party that has twice unified to oppose Democratic-authored economic stimulus legislation is neither the party of no, nor a party defined by its unanimous opposition to the new president's agenda.


Reid Sets Votes on Solis, D.C. Voting Rights

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Friday night set up two contentious votes — one on the nomination of Rep. Hilda Solis (D-Calif.) to be Labor secretary and another on a bill to give the District of Columbia a permanent representative in Congress. Both will occur after next week’s recess.

Ensign: Nevada Shortchanged in Stimulus

Republican Sen. John Ensign charged on Friday that the stimulus bill negotiated by his home-state colleague, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D), shortchanged Nevada on education funding, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

PMA’s Directors Became Big Donors

In 2006, the PMA Group, a powerhouse Washington, D.C., lobbying firm, added to its board of directors two Floridians who were not lobbyists and apparently had no connection to politics, but who became prodigious donors to the firm’s favored Members of Congress.
