Programs
The Center for Language Education and Development offers a variety of English language programs designed to meet the needs of students, working professionals, business executives and teachers. Programs are offered throughout the year on the Georgetown University campus in Washington, DC. Programs include:
- English as a Foreign Language Program - 16 weeks
Study in small classes at one of six levels, Beginning to Advanced, that integrate reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. Participate in cultural activities, a conversation partners program and weekly coffee hours. Offered as fall and spring semester programs.
- Summer Intensive English Program - 8 weeks
- American Language and Culture (ALC) - 4 weeks
- American Conversational English (ACE) - 3 weeks
Earn a BPE Certificate in two semesters by taking Georgetown business courses and English for Professional Purposes courses to develop your English skills.
Develop English skills for careers in the Federal Government. EHLS is a career development scholarship program for naturalized US citizens.
- Pre-MBA English Program - 3 weeks
The TEFL program is an online teacher training program with an applied, practical focus for those wanting to teach abroad. This course also includes a one-week teaching practicum on campus at Georgetown University.
CLED will work with client institutions and other Georgetown University departments to custom-design and implement language programs and teacher training for groups, both U.S. and international.

Interact DC
Join us as we meet with a series of guest speakers who live in the Washington, DC area. Learn about careers and colleges in the US from native English speakers.
International Coffee Hour
International students at Georgetown University are invited to meet with other students, faculty and staff members at this weekly event.
University Application Program
Learn about the process of applying to an undergraduate or graduate program in the U.S. and receive individual counseling on creating effective application letters and personal statements.
Pronunciation Workshops
Need extra help with English pronunciation? These sessions are targeted towards speakers of specific languages to help students improve their speaking skills.
