Cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe continues unabated
24 February 2009 -- More than 80 000 suspected cases of cholera, including 3800 deaths, have now been reported throughout Zimbabwe. The outbreak has not yet been brought under control due to a range of factors, such as the vast scale of the outbreak and the lack of health staff available to treat the ill. Most cases are being reported in rural areas, where access to health care is extremely limited.
