TRIPOLI side Al-Ahli moved comfortably into the first round proper of the CAF Champions League where they will meet Young Africans of Tanzania by virtue of a 7-2 aggregate victory over AS Police of Niger. Al-Ahli lost the return tie 1-2 but in the first leg they had thrashed these same opponents to the tune of 6-0.

In the Confederation Cup, as expected, both Libyan representatives, Al-Ahli of Benghazi and Khaleej Sirt qualified to the first round proper. However, Al-Ahli were a disappointment. They lost their preliminary round home match against their Sudanese opponents, and only managed to get through after a penalty shoot-out, 3-2.
