Don Durfee

Don Durfee has been CFO Asia's editor-in-chief since July, 2008. He joined the magazine in January 2007 as managing editor after several years with CFO magazine in New York, where he served as research editor. During his time at CFO, Don wrote award-winning features on diverse topics, ranging from executive compensation to the financial problems confronting American cities. He also spearheaded the magazine's editorial research, designing surveys on topics such as CFOs' struggles to maintain a work/life balance and the financial motives behind corporate political campaign donations. Additionally, he organized the global expansion of the Duke University/CFO magazine Business Outlook Survey, a quarterly economic forecast used by the US Federal Reserve, economists, and corporations.

Prior to his time at CFO, Don was a senior editor with the Economist Intelligence Unit in New York. Before that he served as the managing editor of the Alliance Analyst, a fortnightly newsletter examining joint ventures and partnerships. Don has undergraduate degrees in history from Tufts University and music from New England Conservatory. He also holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University.

Shu-Ching Jean Chen

Shu-Ching Jean Chen came to CFO Asia as managing editor in July, 2008 with more than a decade of reporting experience in the region. She constantly broke new ground during her latest stint at Forbes.com, the global website of Forbes magazine, and Forbes Asia, a bi-weekly publication.

She regularly contributed to Forbes’ regional surveys, including Forbes 40 Japan, a list of the country's largest companies; Forbes 40 Australia; Forbes’ list of the world’s richest billionaires, and the inaugural Hong Kong Rich List for which she penned the cover story.

Before that, she covered mergers and acquisitions and private equity for seven years as a correspondent for the Deal, a weekly magazine, and its sister publication, the Daily Deal, providing a global audience of finance and legal professionals an insider’s view of Asia’s changing environment.

Her writings span a broad geographical footprint and cover a wide variety of topics, from corporate news, labor, politics, laws, technology, sports, and celebrity profiles to banking, foreign exchanges, and stock markets. Jean was not a newcomer to The Economist Group, having worked as a correspondent for The Economist newspaper in the late 1990s.

Cesar Bacani wrote The China Investor: Getting Rich with the Next Superpower (John Wiley & Sons, 2003) and is currently at work on his second book on stockmarket investing. He is a partner with editorial-services company The Editors Group in Hong Kong and a contributing editor for CFO Asia and CFO China. He was an editor for 14 years with Asiaweek, where he developed the magazine’s Best Universities and Best MBA Schools surveys, supervised the Asiaweek Financial 500 and Asiaweek 1000 listings, and launched the personal investing section.
