Disney's Wide World of Sports Braves' Ballgame

The Atlanta Braves will return to Champion Stadium within Disney’s Wide World of Sports complex for their 2009 spring training. After two weeks of workouts, the team will play an 18-game home schedule beginning February 26.

Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival

Florida Scrub JayFestival-goers will be flocking to the 12th Annual Space Coast Birding and Wildlife Festival that will kick off next Wednesday, January 21. Special festival events, field trips, seminars and workshops will run through Monday, January 26. The popular Titusville event showcases unique nature and wildlife, while promoting nature-based tourism and outdoor adventure opportunities on Florida's Space Coast.

As one of the most prestigious birding and wildlife venues, due to its exceptional line up of speakers and field trip leaders, the nationally and internationally recognized festival is in an excellent location for viewing endangered animals and plant species.

Florida Highwaymen Exhibiting in Mount Dora

Florida Highwaymen ArtistThe Florida Highwaymen will exhibit and sell their original art at the Donnelly Building in Mount Dora Saturday, January 10, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event will feature Mary Ann Carroll, Johnny Daniels, James Gibson, Issac Knight, Robert Lewis and Roy McLendon. Sunday, January 11, they will also appear at a semi-private brunch at the Heron Cay Lakeview Bed & Breakfast from 10:00 to 12 noon (there is a charge, please call 352-383-4050 for reservations). After the brunch, Heron Cay will be open to the public until 3:00 p.m. for the exhibit and sale.

Mount Dora is a lovely place to spend a day or a few days just about any time of the year.
