The Foundation Open Society Institute–Macedonia (FOSIM) seeks to help promote stability in Macedonia by disseminating information to the public; encouraging civil society organizations to address Macedonia’s political and economic situation; and coordinating activities to better unify NGOs that represent the country's minorities. Programs focus on education, medical and health, women, publishing, civil society, Roma, media, law, culture and arts, public administration and economic development.

Major priorities for FOSIM have included: countering government interference with national elections; increasing voter turnout and combating government corruption; developing comprehensive school reform models that promote creative and critical thinking; providing printed materials to conflict areas cut off from information; producing materials that advocate tolerance; and promoting public understanding of the peace plan.
