The International Renaissance Foundation (IRF) is dedicated to building and maintaining the infrastructure and institutions necessary for an open society in Ukraine. To this end, the IRF operates and supports an array of programs and initiatives that promote the process of national rebirth and democratic development in four broad areas: education, civil society, culture, and publishing.

IRF programs foster the development of and cooperation among nongovernmental organizations in an effort to increase the growth of independent information outlets. The foundation also prioritizes initiatives that protect civil liberties, strengthen democracy, encourage penitentiary reform, and improve health policies.
