In August 2005, we began working in partnership with Radio Nacional de Angola to produce public service announcements (PSAs) about HIV and AIDS in eight languages.

Advertisements in taxis, colour posters, banners and text messages were used to promote the campaign. This clip is only available in Portuguese (1 min 10 secs)

End of Section

A typical scene of a rural village in Angola. Kids playing football and skipping games.

The local chief (Soba) walks through with his bicycle.

LOCAL WOMAN (beckoning to the children): Come over here kids, the Soba is going to talk to you about HIV and AIDS.

CHIEF: Do you all know what HIV is?

VILLAGER: It's the virus which causes AIDS.

CHIEF: That's it! Very good. And so, how is it transmitted?

VILLAGER 2: Through unprotected sexual relations.

CHIEF: Mmmm, very good! And so how is it not transmitted?

VILLAGER 3: By kissing, hugging or living with someone with the virus.

CHIEF: Very good! I'm really happy with this! And what if there was someone here in the village that had HIV. What would we do?

VILLAGERS: We would help them.

CHIEF: That's it! Against HIV and AIDS...

VILLAGERS (in chorus): We stand together!
