my g1 is locked and asks for my google username and password.
i use google apps for domains and i know my login credentials.
but it doesnt log me in!!
i dont want to lose my data because of a factory reset.

so please help me!
Update:
---

this seems to be a general error.
if your phone is locked, you may not be able to unlock it and you have to hard reset it currently.
i am waiting for a solution, because i want to keep my data.

i hope, google will fix this soon!

I have a similar problem, but I don't remember my original Gmail password because I change them regularly.
Why won't it use the current Gmail password?
P.S. The screen lock that prevents the 4-year old from accessing the phone doesn't prevent them from locking you out.

Instead I would suggest to try a sim lock via an sim pin & get a PUK code in advance from network provider...

mikeeo44, it should use the current Gmail password. Have you tried the Accounts Troubleshooter?

hdmn, what type of data are you worried about losing? Your calendar, contacts, and e-mail will sync back on to the device. Third-party data may be lost if it doesn't sync to anything.

hdmn, have you tried the Account Troubleshooter (link above)?

Note that if you change the account's password, there is typically a delay (I'm not sure how long, just that it's longer than most people expect it would be) before the new password is accepted by the G1.

yes, i have tried to reset my password.
but i dont think, that it gets synchronized to the g1.

i think the problem is, that i have accidentally created a duplicated account. :(

I would set the password on both accounts to be the same. Then you should be able to succeed in signing in with one or the other - and maybe you can then back up your data in case you need to do a Factory Reset to sign in with the correct account.

How long ago did you reset your password?

i have changed the password today.
but why should i have to use a new one? i am sure about the user/pass and that i used this for setting up the g1. :((

What is "the same" that the friend tried to do? Create a duplicate account, or something else?

Have you tried signing in with username@googlemail.com instead of username@gmail.com? I've read that is necessary for users in the UK and Germany.

If that doesn't work, I would reset the password again, then put the phone down for several hours, then try again to log in. You may be re-locking the account before the password change can propagate through the system.

I am having the same problem (accidently enabled the pattern, tried to use my username and pw to unlock, and it is rejected). I have tried every possible combination, the gmail.com, googlemail.com, my secondary gmail account. I have double, triple checked my spelling and capitalization. I can long in from my computer, but the phone keeps saying invalid. This is bull, I now have no option but to reset.

1 person says this answers the question:
Oh, and I reset my password, as well. Which didn't work.

Of course tho once I reset my phone and it asks me for my uname and pw, it works fine. That is really lame, obviously it wasn't something I was doing wrong. but the phone.
