Minnesota Boy With Cancer & Mom Still On The Run

A Minnesota boy who has cancer and his mother are still on the run from court-ordered chemotherapy.  The Mother now may face criminal charges as well, but authorities are saying they won't press charges if she brings her son home for treatment.

The mother and son were last seen in southern California on Tuesday and authorities now believe they may be at one of the alternative cancer treatment centers in northern Mexico. 

Daniel Hauser, 13, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma and say he's likely to die without treatment. 

ABC news' Richard Cantu caught up with Billy Best who was the center of a similar case in the 1990's in Massachusetts.  The courts let him choose his own way of treatment and he's survived now for 15 years. 

The last examination of Daniel's cancer showed things were getting worse and time is becoming a factor in the case.

I had my children at home. It's not a CRAZE it's the way people were born for thousands of years before dr.s etc. As for this mom and her cancer kid, maybe you should do some research on what kills cancer and what does not before you comment on people loving their ideas more than their kids. I chose homebirth because I loved my kids more then YOUR ideas! Ever heard of silver nitrate? Episiotomy? Epidural? C Sections? Sometimes these things are unnecesary! Check it all out before you down someone

When my children were born there was a "natural childbirth" craze, when asked their mother and I stated we wanted the sterile enviroment with as many specialist as our insurance would cover--all of our children were born healthy, one of them would not have made it if we had been home with a midwife. Sometimes parents love their ideas more than their children- all, I say again, all, the scientifc evidence shows thier young boy has a 5% chance of survival with so called natural therapy.

I don't blame the Mother at all! My father had Cancer and Kemo and Radiation Kills the good and the bad! This procedure is not guarenteed! I feel as though we should of used Natural medicines as well! Once u get treatment there is no going back! If I ever get cancer I will refuse treatment as well! I hope the natural Medicines work! I heard The medicine from Canada works great!

There are many stories of people who are cured with alternative medicine. I hope she comes back with a healed boy, even though I am sure the media will not report that as strongly. They have the right to pursue alternative medicine before traditional if that is what they feel is right. The judge should have given them time to pursue those options before chemotherapy.
