Adam Lambert in Queen might actually happen, according to Brian May

May 26, 2009, 03:35 PM | by Aly Semigran

Categories: Adam Lambert

Adamlambertqueen_l3 It's been less than two weeks since we pondered the possibility of American Idol's Adam Lambert taking over Freddie Mercury's duties as Queen's lead singer. Then came his performance of "We Are The Champions" on the show. Now our rock & roll fantasy might actually become a reality. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Queen's Brian May says that while there is nothing set in stone, he and drummer Roger Taylor "are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point." May went on to say that "I’d certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.” OK, so it's not a definitive yes, but it certainly seems like things are heading in the right direction. Or should Lambert just go his own way? I mean, the guy has the goods to make his own name in rock (Daughtry, anyone?). What do you think, Music Mixers? Should Adam Lambert join an already established band like Queen, or just start fresh?

Adam should do Queen, and they should tour for a year. Put in some new songs along with the old. It is a tribute that no one else can handle to Freddie Mercury. I knew the first moment I heardd Adam that he had a destiny to honor.

SunnyCal Wed, May 27, 2009 at 07:53 PM EST

Why can't he do both? Why can't he be the lead singer for queen; and have a solo career as well? Adam is still so young, so there's plenty of time for him to try both Queen and a solo career.

jim kelley Wed, May 27, 2009 at 07:50 PM EST

Adam cannot sing for Queen. Dont get me wrong he has a great voice, but Freddie Mercury is the only one who can sing a REAL Queen song

Ellen McNeill Wed, May 27, 2009 at 07:35 PM EST

Adam doesn't need Queen. Perhaps a guest appearance or so AFTER his album is out. I believe that Adam values creative freedom and he won't have that if he gets into the Queen mold. They are older and Adam is young which is an advantage for him. I just love Adam and his talent. He is amazing. I would love to see a pay per view of him in concert so we could have close-ups of his body language and style. I've watched my TIVO recordings of his performances over and over. He's a true superstar that can make it on his own. He doesn't need to attach himself to anybody or any group. He will be iconic and a worldwide star. He is a manager's dream. I see him in acting, endorsements and more. True star quality and he seems humble to boot. What a guy!

MJ, just for the sake of accuracy, Adam has NOT sold the most on iTunes--Kris has. The numbers have just been released.
But really, iTunes sales or anything else aren't relevant to this question. Queen were an awesome band years ago, but they haven't charted in forever and all of the members are practically senior citizens. I'm sorry, but that's no place for Adam. If he's smart, which he is, he'll do his own album and have his own career. That's what he should focus on.

somebodyyy who loves adamm :] Wed, May 27, 2009 at 05:50 PM EST

i think that adam should go his own way... just because he has such a huge fan base already as himself.
:P

but its really up to adam and queen.
i just hope he goes his own way,

MJ Wed, May 27, 2009 at 04:51 PM EST

I think Mr. Lambert has already made a name for himself. Easily, he had the most press, the most blogs, the most stuff on YouTube and I believe he sold the most on iTunes.I think he should collaborate with Queen, make guest spots and do his own thing. Man, he sounded awsome singing "We Are the Champions" I think I've listened to it a gizillion times and evey time I get the chills.

peaches Wed, May 27, 2009 at 04:19 PM EST

Adam has the goods to go on his own...Queen already has a "mold", so to speak, and Adam wants to do his own thing. He would make more money on his own.

Heather Wed, May 27, 2009 at 04:11 PM EST

I'm rolling over in Freddie Mercury's grave...

Sala Wed, May 27, 2009 at 03:40 PM EST

I think it would be great for him to go with Queen and then go solo later. The band would be huge again and with Adam;s AMAZING talent alot can be expexted out of this partnership. I anm so excited for this and I wish nothing but the best for another addition to the handful of true performers...Adam Lambert.

Alex Wed, May 27, 2009 at 03:39 PM EST

I would love to see Adam join forces with some quality, well-known veteran musicians - anything to give his debut more attention and critical weight. But I don't necessarily think being a part of Queen 2.0 is the way to go. He has enough star quality to make it without that label and I'd fear he'd only be compared to Freddy Mercury instead of making a name for himself.

Kat Wed, May 27, 2009 at 03:14 PM EST

I think he should sing with Queen - why not - he can hold his own with any rock band.

Kat Wed, May 27, 2009 at 02:33 PM EST

I think he should do a revival tour with them and then go out on his own.

Rene' Wed, May 27, 2009 at 02:33 PM EST

they should work on doing a CD together i think making a few new songs and some remakes would be cool, but Adam very talented and he will make his own name for himself for many years to come i hope

charlie Wed, May 27, 2009 at 02:03 PM EST

Adam is theatrical in delivery and that's what Queen has been looking for ever since Freddie left us. It's a "no-brainer". It would sell like crazy. And Brian still has his chops! I'd love to see a new Queen at the top of the Billboard Charts, and Adam is the front man to help the group achieve that!!!

Bubble Burster Wed, May 27, 2009 at 01:58 PM EST

Well, I was in an interview with Adam yesterday and he was asked point blank if he was joining Queen or asked to join Queen. He flat out denied that he would be joining the iconic band, but admitted that Brian May had mentioned collaboarting in the future. Adam chalked the rest up to a game of telephone....

Genevieve Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:57 PM EST

I might add to what I just posted... now for all of us to "win", let them tape the live shows and post them on Tuesday night's on their official websites! Just one song every Tuesday night would really help with our withdrawal symptoms. And sell high quality videos on Itunes too, please.

Genevieve Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:51 PM EST

Ultimately the decision will be decided by Adam and Queen, whether they can work together or not. I would love to see Adam tour with them for awhile, expand his fanbase beyond the AI bubble, and develop a feel for producing his own music with really good musicians. On the other hand, it would be great if Queen would allow some of Adam's own songs to be introduced to their audiences. It would be a win-win situation.

Gino Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:46 PM EST

If he has an opportunity with Queen, he should take it immediately. There is always time to go solo. But imagine the exposure he would get by being the lead singer of Queen. Unbelievable.

Adam Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:39 PM EST

He can do both. But I like it more if he could go solo because he can sing anything. His vocal range is amazing. So, let's support him wherever he wants to go.

sara Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:27 PM EST

I hope Adam's new employers let him do what he wants. Adam is SO talented and has had to take many crappy jobs just to pay his rent over the past decade that he deserves to have every one of his dreams come true. <3

Heather Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:24 PM EST

Adam should do what ever he wishes. If he feels this suits him, great !!! We can't tell him what to do or not. I think he's great, probably the best contestant that American Idol will ever see !!!!

Tanon Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:08 PM EST

BOTH.
He can do like Sammy Hagar and have his own work AND with Van Halen. It is possible.
PLEASE.
Queen + Adam = Genius.
I have dreamt of seeing Queen live and this would be the next best thing.

While I am not a fan of Adam's, I would definitely love to see him as a lead vocal with Queen. I think he just may be the next Freddy Mercury (or as close as one can get). I hope to know about tours with Adam and Queen early so we can get our front row seats!!

Rozy Wed, May 27, 2009 at 11:31 AM EST

I think Adam Lambert should most definitely go his own way. It would be good to see him take over Queen, but he has such a talent, and can make it on his own. He has such a bright future ahead of him. Although it would be good to see him lead Queen, he has the talent needed to make his own band. Queen have been around for such a long time, maybe he should just go his own way and get on with it. Either way, it's up to him, his choice and how he feels about the situation is all that counts.
xx

JANNIE Wed, May 27, 2009 at 11:26 AM EST

I THINK ADAM SHOULD BE ON HIS OWN TO MAKE ALBUMS, BUT ALSO GO WITH QUEEN. HE SHOULD LET QUEEN KNOW THAT IF HE GOES WITH THEM, THAT HE WILL ALSO BE ON HIS OWN FOR TOURING, ALBUMS ETC. ADAM SHOULD SING A LITTLE OF EVERYTHING. HE WAS GOOD WITH THE 40'S SONG HE SANG ALSO 70'S 80'S EVERYTHING. HE IS THE BEST SINGER TO COME ALONG IN A LONG WHILE. HE SHOULD HAVE WON. I'M 59 AND MY MOM IS 85 AND WE LOVE HIM. HE IS NOT JUST A HARD ROCK SINGER. HIS VOICE I THE KIND THAT ALSO COULD SING SONGS LIKE JOSH GROBIN. I LIKE CHRIS, BUT I WON'T BUY ANY RECORDS OF HIS. HIS VOICE IS TOO BORING.

Ashtyn Wed, May 27, 2009 at 10:55 AM EST

I think that Adam should go his own way in the music industry. His vocals are phenomenal, with his artistic ability he can make a living off of it. Besides I don't think that people are going to want to hear the classic songs of Queen by another singer...Adam should go his own way that way the success doesn't come to easily and he'll get alot more out of it then the easy come success.

swerds Wed, May 27, 2009 at 10:41 AM EST

Brian May is one of the smartest musicians that is still in the biz. Adam Lambert touring, recording with Queen would be interesting to say the least but I think the only people who would be 100% happy in the long term would be the musicians themselves. Devotees of Freddie Mercury would cry that Adam isn't Freddie and new fans of (potential) new recordings wouldn't be appreciative of hearing the classic songs in concert. It's a no-win situation.

But the idea is so intriguing.

Zoey Wed, May 27, 2009 at 10:41 AM EST

I wouldn't mind a collaboration at some point but I really hope Adam goes his own route right now and establish himself as a solo act.

Brittany Wed, May 27, 2009 at 10:29 AM EST

i think adam should start fresh and make a name for himself.

J of S Wed, May 27, 2009 at 10:20 AM EST

Do both, Adam! You could tour with Queen one month and Led Zeppelin the next, and still have a lifelong career of your own. You have a rare talent!

joe Wed, May 27, 2009 at 10:02 AM EST

Adam with Queen would be ideal...this kid would get exposed to some of the greatest musicians on the planet...He could unite parents and children with music across the globe...there is no downside here...If you are going to play music with someone, why night pick the best live act ever!!

joe Wed, May 27, 2009 at 10:01 AM EST

LambertsLabelle Wed, May 27, 2009 at 09:55 AM EST

hearing Adam confirming the mutual interess in an interview just blew me away! For a day.
Now I think diferent and I read here..I m not alone.
he should sing with QUEEN.That would be for him like an impossible dream becoming reality. He should siong as starguest and BLOW the people out of their minds!
And THEN he HAS to go by himself.QUEEN is a legend.Freddy Mercury IS Queen.So-if he takes over he ll be just a second cup of MERCURY-tea,stucked in the QIUEEN-style,singing Freddy-revival-music(what he will do FANTASTIC!!!Even better than Freddy??) adn he ll be in a group with hundred years old..(just joking,Im almost hundred myself..)
he will be blocked with the time.As I say..as gueststar that will be mindblowing!
But I want him to make his own way with his own name.I want ADAM LAMBERT making musichistory! And he will!!!!!

Jeannette Wed, May 27, 2009 at 09:46 AM EST

Can't he do both???

RJF Wed, May 27, 2009 at 09:31 AM EST

He should make his one way. Queen is wonderful, but Adam needs to make himself famous by himself!!

Caco Wed, May 27, 2009 at 09:22 AM EST

I am sure that Adam will do something completely unexpected. I hope he does a little of everything. I can't get enough of Adam!!!

mark robinson Wed, May 27, 2009 at 08:01 AM EST

Queen need Adam lambert more than he needs them?????

What a load! Queen have sold almost 400 million records worldwide, they had the greatest ever frontman in Freddie Mercury and thier Live Aid performaance was voted the greatest live performance of all time!

Adam lambert is a great singer and I would love to hear him sing with Queen, but please don't compare the two

Ana Lambert Wed, May 27, 2009 at 07:52 AM EST

I agree with the people who said that Adam should do both. Seeing Adam live with Queen would be awsome! And of course, he´s got the chops to pursue his own career brilliantly. People here in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, simply adore him!!!

Paddy P Wed, May 27, 2009 at 07:32 AM EST

Exciting times for Adam! I would love to see him in Queen but also as a solo artist. Now it's up to Adam - hurry up with that albumn Adam!

LisaH Wed, May 27, 2009 at 07:16 AM EST

Adam needs to be Adam, solo artist! That said, if he were to tour with Queen, I wouldn't miss that show for the world.

Stacey Wed, May 27, 2009 at 06:41 AM EST

It doesn't matter who or what he sings with. He is an awesome, talented, gifted performer and would be an asset to ANY band, not the other way around. He can go his own way or join KISS for that matter and still be the icon he is destined to be. I love this guy. My favorite superstar ever, well except for JD. Adam, whatever you do, works! You're fabulous.

Liz Wed, May 27, 2009 at 06:33 AM EST

no he needs to go his own way! he needs a fresh start to rock on his own!! <33

Susan Wed, May 27, 2009 at 06:12 AM EST

Look how Brian is looking at Adam in the picture...totally enthralled. He's thinking "Freddie, you're back!" LOL! Adam has got to join them for some tour gigs AFTER the American Idol tour wraps up. He's the only reason I bought a ticket to the AI concert this year and many fans will be very, very upset if he's a no-show!

Redeye Wed, May 27, 2009 at 04:31 AM EST

Here in the link to a great interview with Adam from Broadway News. ENJOY!!
http://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Adam_Lamberts_IDOL_Exit_Interview_20090523

Arvie Wed, May 27, 2009 at 04:05 AM EST

Kinda looks like he's done both already. Don't think there is a rock big enough to cover this little power house, now that he's out.

Susan di Michele Wed, May 27, 2009 at 02:46 AM EST

Let's think of it from Adam's perspective for a moment. He grew up listening to Queen, probably singing into a hair care product along with his hero, Freddie Mercury. Fast forward to last week, he sings with Queen and Brian May asks him to go on tour with them on and off. Can you imagine his sheer joy? I'll bet his head almost popped off. He'll be able to sing every song in Queen's brilliant library. His theatricality will be a perfect match. Adam's incredible voice and his outfits and makeup and his confident strut down any staircase and just his simple presence will fit right in with the band...and those tight beautiful Queen harmonies. I was lucky enough to see Queen when I was a tiny kid in the late '70s. To see Adam front them now would be simply revolutory. Adam should do it if it makes him happy. Then he should collaborate with very diverse artists for his own cd and tour. This should start after the Idols tour of course-many many fans bought tickets only to see Adam.

Stephanie Wed, May 27, 2009 at 01:51 AM EST

Adam needs to go SOLO!!! He's a big enough star already that he can have multi-platinum success on his own. That said, it would be really cool if he did some "guest" gigs with Queen. Maximize his world-wide exposure. People love Adam and they love Queen and it would be a good match on a "guest star" basis.

Grace Wed, May 27, 2009 at 01:38 AM EST

Adam is young enough, he can do both: Sing with Queen and create a solo career. I'd LOVE to hear Adam sing some of the Queen songs (post-Freddie) that didn't become hits simply because the singers weren't the proper caliber. Adam would bring that RICH FULL SOUND back to Queen!

Anonymous Wed, May 27, 2009 at 01:32 AM EST

I think this is a great article with good gossip. I personally think that Queen is a legend and I abosolutely adore Adam. (I mean who doesn't?) But they also need to think that will Adam change Queen up too much so that he changes who Queen is completley? Adam should have no problem getting an recording contract and who knows he could be the legendery rock star who is a guest performer at American Idol finale. Also, what about his totally awesome performance with KISS?

Butters Wed, May 27, 2009 at 01:11 AM EST

Read an interesting report on this via AP earlier today. Adam did mentioned about joining Queen among other things, including a duet with other pop artist. I kinda like the notion of having Adam do both, a solo artist and also joining the band. I'm so excited, I can't even type... :D

Dunsa Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:57 AM EST

David Michaels: Am I listening right here? What makes you think you can tarnish Adam's incredible reputation by repeating "all over again" that he's gay, he screams, etc etc. His sexuality is none of your goddamn business and the people who truly love Adam REALLY DON'T CARE!! Please keep your rude and unbased comments to yourself.

Dunsa Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:51 AM EST

Terrific if Adam only does a few gigs but he does not need to be tied down with Queen as they are a 80's iconic band and hell, people will start to compare him against Freddie. He needs to do his own music for this generation. Regardless if he decides to join Queen for a few gigs I am sure the tickets will sell out in 60 seconds!!!!

cimi Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:43 AM EST

And when I said no, I meant Know. lol

cimi Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:42 AM EST

And btw Adam.. I don't think yur gayness is anyone elses buisiness either. I do pray for you though that you would no the truth. I love you..keep on rockin'

cimi Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:39 AM EST

I'd like to see Adam do his own thing. Perhaps just do a few things with queen but then, do his own. ya know. He is fresh and new and I'd hate for him to get bogged down in the past. He has so much to offer. I want to see new. I love queen but queen is queen.. it's not adam.

Devis Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:29 AM EST

I understand that Queen is one of Adam's favourite group and they are legendary. He would be so honored to sing with them. However, Queen used to be very good then, now they're getting older and its hard to capture the young fans again. In fact, Queen hasn't come up with anything that remarkable during this past few years. Adam is this new craze and i think he will benefit better going solo and starting fresh as his is sizzling everywhere. Everyone is excited to hear him now. Going fresh would be better in my opinion but it would be good if Adam could perform few gigs with Queen but now as their permanent lead singer. As for me, I can't wait to get my hands on Adam's new album. Had been missing him a lot since AI ended. -AsianFan

Amanda Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:23 AM EST

I have to echo the "one tour" sentiment. One tour of Adam Lambert with Queen is the closest many of us will ever get to seeing Freddie Mercury live.

Gloria Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:22 AM EST

In reference to David Michaels comment. Are you off your rocker? You are assuming Adam is gay, nothing has been confirmed and who the hell cares. As far as being crammed down peoples throats, I'm a baby boomer and absolutely love Adam's voice and high range. Adam is Adam and not trying to replace anyone. He is his own man and would make a GREAT addition to QUEEN and bring them back to life. Adam is to talented to REPLACE anyone, but rather to bring new life and blood into an already iconic established band. You sure love to judge don't you, Freak Show, Kool-aide, wail like a cat in heat. Adam does not butcher songs, he reinvents. If you are not an Adam fan, don't bash this talented man, but rather just keep your mouth closed and move on to someone who you do like. I'd like to see you try to sing in the range that Adam does.

Suespice Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:16 AM EST

Nooo! The only similarity between Adam and Freddie is they're both gay and wear guyliner. I'm a long time Queen fan and Adam does not have Freddie's vocal range, musical talent (Freddie plays piano) or song writing ability. Freddie was the ultimate showman who could work the audience and make them feel like they were part of the show and not just watching a concert. There's no way Adam has any where close to Freddie's talent, vocal range or artistry. I think Queen should stick with Paul Rodgers.

Gloria Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:07 AM EST

Adam should absolutely do both!! Make his own solo album and tour with Queen. They CAN make it happen!!
That would be so incredible!!!

Shelby Wed, May 27, 2009 at 12:01 AM EST

Why not both? Do a tour or a few songs with Queen, sure why not. But he needs to and he will make his own album. It's already in the works.

JMac Tue, May 26, 2009 at 11:46 PM EST

One tour. Please. Who doesn't want to hear Queen sound like Queen (instead of Bad Company)? Who doesn't want to hear Adam sing more Queen? Come on! One tour!

David Michaels Tue, May 26, 2009 at 11:36 PM EST

HELLOOOO!! Are we all listening to the same singer here. Adam Lambert has perfected the wail of a cat in heat. He doesn't have the range to carry Freddy Mercury's mic stand. He's been crammed down our collective throats for months by the American Idol money machine and too many of you are drinking the Kool-Aid. Apparently, so is Brian May.

Just because Adam is gay doesn't mean he's ready to step into Freddy's shoes.

I am hoping this freak show fades away - the sooner the better and before he butchers any more classic songs.

Becky Lohman Tue, May 26, 2009 at 11:28 PM EST

Oh ya and watch the video of Adam with Queen, look at Brian Mays face when Adam sings next to him he looks like he just heard a ghost singing next to him. He was in awwwww.

breath Tue, May 26, 2009 at 11:25 PM EST

I hope they work together. Queen and Adam definitely will pull fans in and benefit from each other. I hope that Adam will produce some new songs to sing with Queen and not just sing in place of Freddy.

Becky Tue, May 26, 2009 at 11:20 PM EST

This is a comment to Peters comment.
Are you joking? Freak have you ever seen Freddie Mercury in concert! come on people, Adam sounded awsome with Queen. Way better than the singer they have now, he sucks. Adam may have some high vocals but they are controlled. Listen to Freddie sing the song along with Adam and then tell me what you think. I think Queen has been around long enough to know who would be a good fit for their band, don't ya think?????
Quit being a hater.
You go Adam, you are awsome, and by the way I grew up with Queen and I think he would be an excellent fit, and I would be at the first concert!!!!!!

Ashley Tue, May 26, 2009 at 10:58 PM EST

Hey Adam fans, check out http://adamordanny.blogspot.com :]

Phichie Tue, May 26, 2009 at 10:45 PM EST

Queen should re-invent itself to accomodate Adam and his enormous talent. Example: Super Queen featuring Adam Lambert. Adam is a singer's singer and he should never miss an opportunity to sing songs that only the best can sing. While Adam can make Queen more contemporary and relevant, Queen offers material that can showcase his marvelous voice. Queen re-inventing itself gives Adam an opportunity to write and perform his own original music too. I love Queen and I love Adam but in the end I will support Adam whatever he choses. I am really excited to cheer him on! Go adam.

Thor Tue, May 26, 2009 at 10:24 PM EST

Adam should definately take Queen's offer if it is actually presented to him. Through Queen he can be as creative as he wants to. Historically, Queen has always been about experimenting. They would totally be upto anything Adam has to offer. Yes, Freddie is dead, God rest his soul. Adam could never replace Freddie. But,from a musicians stand point you would NEVER pass up a chance to play with Queen. Adam will have plenty of time to work on his solo material that does not fit into the Queen mold. Age is irrelivant. Queen just had a record-breaking tour with Paul Rogers. If Adam does not take this offer, he might regret it for the rest of his life. This is a Great Starting Point! (At the TOP!!!)

dish Tue, May 26, 2009 at 10:09 PM EST

I think we have only seen a small indication of what Adam really can do from the family style AI. I think we are in for a big surprise and I think we will see just as much funk from him as we did Freddie and Bowie! I can't wait! And really, we have no idea what Queen wants from Adam. I am sure they understand that Adam needs to do his own thing and at this point in their careers they may invite a new journey for themselves and will be very willing to collaborate with Adam on what he needs and wants. Nobody said Adam had to do the old songs. Adam could not find more experienced instrumentalists and co-writers. He could gain so much so quickly with these guys! Adam should and could really have it all. I think Queen would not want to get in his way. They just want to continue creating. And Adam needs men he can trust. I love the new idea of the veterans and the fresh and current "fusing". Adam is all about fusion. Cease this moment in your history, Adam!

i also can see the other side of the scenario as well...i mean Queen was big back in the day so now their getting older and might not be able to keep up with adam's generation bc Adam is a whole new breed when it comes to singing so guest appearances could be a great option as well, he gets to sing with a great band, plus the popularity points, and he also isnt commited to that band so he can spread his music in his own way and become successful that way...either way its a plus for adam lamberts career.

nic tilley Tue, May 26, 2009 at 09:55 PM EST

he should deffinately start with queen, i mean this boy can sing and starting out his singing career on one of the most popular rock bands in history is a very good look, thats also adam's strongest vocal area. i'm sure im not the only one that would rather here him raisin his voice hitting that impossible high note for the average joe singer (kris allen) in a rock song than any other genre. It's Adam's choice but he should deffinately consider this as a starting point.

Deborah Tue, May 26, 2009 at 09:49 PM EST

Guest appearances yes. But Adam do your own thing and use those guest appearances to gain popularity for yourself as an individual. Adam has too many great ideas to be hooked up with some other band

Rock On Tue, May 26, 2009 at 09:37 PM EST

I am a great Queen's fan. But looking from Adam's perspective, he needs to start his own band... that way he gets total creative control.

As a Queen lead man, Brian & company still have control over the band. Adam needs to have his own

allie Tue, May 26, 2009 at 09:33 PM EST

Queen was legendary in their day...but it hasn't been "their day" since Adam was in diapers. Enough already. Let Adam have his own career - he can be a guest frontman for the 60+ year old men occasionally - but let him do his own thing and let Brian May et al retire in peace.

cori Tue, May 26, 2009 at 09:18 PM EST

Adam Lambert should do what he feels . Adam has the chance to become a remake of FREDDIE . AND FINISH WHAT HE LEFT OFF. BUT THE BAND IS OLD AND THE PEOPLE IN THE BAND ARE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GO ON A LOT ANYMORE. OR HE COULD GO HIS OWN WAY AND BECOME VERY SUCCESSFUL THAT WAY TOO EITHER WAY ADAM WILL GO WHERE HIS HEART IS AND EITHER WAY HE WILL BE VERY SUCESSFUL. WE LOVE U ADAM.

Becky Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:42 PM EST

Adam would be a fool not to take the opportunity if offered to him to sing with Queen. It's a win/win situation! Adam has many great qualities, but doesn't have the low range that Freddie had, and can he write incredible, number one hits like Mr. Mercury? I would like to find out. No one can replace Freddie, but I'm sure Adam would give it a good go!

Peter Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:40 PM EST

If Queen makes Adam Lambert their lead singer they have hit rock bottom as a band.

That would be such an embarassment for Queen.

Queen's legacy in rock history would forever be tarnished if they made that freak their lead singer.

Don't do it Queen. Big mistake.

Jan. Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:35 PM EST

He owes it to himself to go out on his own before he joins any band. Yes, Queen would be a great start but he would always be the replacement, not Adam Lambert, the individual. Good luck to him no matter which route he chooses.

SDTim Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:25 PM EST

To AiAddict09 -- why all the hate?! Danny's a good vocalist and I'm sure he'll have a nice career. Adam's a totally different style -- you really can't compare the two.

Regarding the "Adam in Queen" thing, I thought Adam sounded incredible, and quite comparable to Freddie Mercury, when he sang "We Are the Champions" but I'd hate to see him get stuck with all the old Queen material (even though it's BRILLIANT!) when he obviously has so many ideas of his own. I hope he does his own thing, with maybe an occasional guest spot with Queen -- like for fund raisers and things like that.

anna garcia Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:18 PM EST

I love Queens music and I love Adam Lambert. What an amazing singer and performer! He should follow his heart. He sounded fantastic with Queen, maybe should tour with them but not join the band. Could make an easy start to his carrer. Go Adam!

Lynn Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:12 PM EST

I can't wait to see what Adam will do on his own, but I'd also absolutely love to hear him with Queen. It was such a tease to hear We are the Champions last week, I want more!!
I hope he can do it all.

Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:09 PM EST

There is just no replacement for Freddie, no matter how good you are. The music world got screwed when they lost him

adamfan4ever Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:06 PM EST

I wholeheartedly believe that some sort of partnership with Queen would be so incredibly awesome for Adam. In spite of his astronomical potential and his beyond extraordinary voice, there is still those who want to tuck him away doing ballads or Broadway (yes, we heard you, Mr. Simmons lol) We who are huge fans know he is 100% the real deal. An association with Queen proves it to the non believers. It's like a coronation of sorts, like this is the guy who has the stuff to pick up where we and Freddie left off.

KT Tue, May 26, 2009 at 08:06 PM EST

I think that Adam should take his career slowly and take time to make his own band and start out from scratch like all bands do. Adam has an AMAZING voice and has a great range in his vocals and he should make his own music to make. If he was with Queen I'm sure he would sing their old songs well, but it wouldn't be like how Freddie did it. Make your own music Adam.

AiAddict09 Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:59 PM EST

Either way Adam still and always will suck. All he does is scream. The only thing to compare him to Freddie Mercury is they are both gay. He will not do Freddie any justice and will do nothing for a great band like Queen. Let him to his own thing and bomb at it! Danny Gokey should've won Idol this year and can't wait to see Danny do so much better than Adam!

Kevin Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:54 PM EST

I think Adam should try to go out on his own first. It's usually more difficult for an artist to make a solid name for him/herself after splitting off from a group. He should see what he can do on his own, and maybe later, he can have something with Queen. Besides, Queen may still be a great band, but you really don't see them in headlines much anymore.

LT Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:52 PM EST

Yeah- what is up with the exclusion of the video on Itunes? I have the Kiss one, but Adam shines even more with Queen- perfect fit. And while I am at it, why did they pull the KISS video off youtube as soon as it hit 1 million?

curt campbell Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:51 PM EST

At his age Adam should be able to do both the American Idol Tour and Tour with Queen as Queen's new frontman...Just have him borrow Simon's Jet...

LT Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:49 PM EST

Love Queen. Love Adam Lambert. They definitely need to collaborate but not become a band. I would pay megabucks to see Adam Sing Under Pressure live with them, and waited all season to see it. Queen needs to keep having guest vocalists( ala Santana) like they did with George Michael and Foo Fighters.

Sue Maple Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:47 PM EST

"Adam Lambert and Queen" sounds great to me! I wish we could get the "We are the Champions" performance from the finale in I-tunes!!

Michelle Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:44 PM EST

I think Adam should venture out on his own for now and see what lies ahead for him. I mean for now he has the AI Tour, his CD and then possibly a tour with Queen.

Adam is a fantastic vocalist and could sing anything. I really am looking forward to seeing what they come up with on his Solo CD. But whatever he decides to do, I'm behind him 100%!!

Jim Tue, May 26, 2009 at 07:40 PM EST

I never saw Queen. When they toured with the bad company singer, never gave me the urge to get tickets. I think he would rock the house singing with Queen, and then do his own thing. Doughtrey never got that big and he could have joined an established band. Well it is a real big life changing decision, and Adam is aware of the options. Best of luck to him. I am still playing the Kiss songs over and over, that was fantastic. He is really great.
