Shanghai, May 22 (Gasgoo.com) Starting next month (June), any provincial vehicles driving into China's capital city of Beijing must be labeled "green" -- carrying an "Environmentally Friendly" label issued by their local authorities, xinhuanet.com said today.
All the vehicles coming to Beijing from out of town will be running on the "green" or "yellow" roads designated by Beijing's standards. The "yellow"-labeled vehicles, which are the high-emission or polluting ones, will be banned from driving inside the downtown areas inside the 5th Ring Road of the capital.
"Vehicles without the eco-friendly labels are banned from entering Beijing. The city's environmental and traffic authorities will jointly check vehicles on the road and street," an official of Beijing municipal environmental bureau said earlier this week.
Starting in June, provincial vehicles running in Beijing must observe the city's road regulations for "green" and "yellow" vehicles. And from October 1, "yellow"-labeled vehicles can't enter the capital's areas inside the 6th Ring Road.
Asked whether out-of-town vehicles delivering fresh vegetables, fruits and other farm produce to Beijing will have the "green passage" from next month, the official said the authorities "are studying" some practical solution.
