College Park Airport was established in 1909 after Wilbur Wright came to the field to train two military officers to fly in the government's first aeroplane. The facility is now the world's oldest continuously operated airport, and is the site of many significant aviation firsts. College Park Airport, known as the "Cradle of Aviation," is an active airport serving the needs of aircraft pilots, and is also a site for history buffs and aviation enthusiasts. In 1977 the airport was added to the National Register of Historic Places. College Park Aviation Museum, a state-of-the-art facility with exciting aviation memorabilia, is located on the grounds of the airport. PLEASE NOTE: Until further notice, federal security requires several changes at the College Park Airport during the national declaration of Security Condition Orange. Operations Building hours are now 8 am to 6 pm daily. Transportation Security agents will be on site, and aircraft movements are restricted. Please call the College Park Airport for additional information.

Location/Directions - Located in College Park, Maryland near the University of Maryland, between Route 1 and Kenilworth Avenue. Accessible by Metro on the Green Line, College Park station.

From the Capital Beltway (I-495), take Kenilworth Avenue, Exit 23 towards Bladensburg. Drive approximately 2.3 miles and make a right onto Paint Branch Parkway. Proceed to the next traffic light and make a right onto Corporal Frank Scott Drive. This road dead-ends at the airport grounds. Follow the signs to the Operations Building.
From U.S. Route 1, turn onto Paint Branch Parkway at the intersection in front of the main entrance to the University of Maryland. Proceed through 2 traffic lights. At the next traffic light, which is Corporal Frank Scott Drive, turn left. This road will bring you into the airport grounds. Follow signs to the Operations Building.
