Past Events
OSI Forum: Adaptation and Mitigation—Waking Up to the Reality of Climate Change
Location: OSI-New York
Event Date(s): May 11, 2009
Speakers: Mark Hertsgaard, Stephen Hubbell
Multimedia:   AUDIO

Mark Hertsgaard's Open Society Fellowship project emphasizes the need to adapt to the consequences of global warming, even as we strive to minimize those consequences. His reporting on global warming and other environmental issues for the Nation, the New Yorker, Vanity Fair, the Atlantic and elsewhere has been well ahead of conventional wisdom.

Hertsgaard's work, alongside that of Bill McKibben and Elizabeth Kolbert, is essential reading for nonspecialists looking to gain a better understanding of this complex subject. He is the author of five books, including Earth Odyssey: Around the World In Search of Our Environmental Future, and On Bended Knee: The Press and the Reagan Presidency.

Stephen Hubbell, communications officer for the Open Society Fellowship, introduced the event.
