Impregilo, through its joint venture Impregilo Lidco, in which the Italian group has a 60% stake (the rest is in the hands of the Libyan Development Investment Co), has signed contracts in Libya with a total value of 360 million euros.
The contracts commit Impregilo to planning and building infrastructure and carry out urbanisation work in the cities of Tripoli and Misurata.
The company will take care of the reconstruction of public services relating to electricity, sewers, telephone and water networks in the two cities.
The new contracts which were finalised by the Libyan Ministry for Housing and Infrastructural Works come on the back of contracts worth about 400 million euros for the planning and building of three new university centres, strengthening Impregilo's presence in Libya.
Impregilo has been operating in Libya for over 20 years.
A statement reports on various projects carried out by the group including the airports of Kufra, Benina, Misurata, El Wotia and Sirt, the ports of Ras Lanuf, Benghazi and Khoms, the central ministries and buildings of the Libyan General People's Congress in Sirte, and the industrial complexes in the cities of Ras Lanuf and Misurata.
