Mediterranean Games: Libyan 400m Athlete Favoured for Gold |

Following the first day of athletics at the 16th Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy, there are great expectations for at least another medal Thursday evening, with two Libyans in the final of their respective events. One of them, Mohamed Khwaj, is even favourite to win gold in the 400m. He was fastest qualifier in his semi-final heat 46.15. Also through the final is Abubaker Eighatruni in the 800m. |

On May 31, 2009 Libya’s National Economic Development Board, NEDB - (www.nedb.ly) signed an agreement with Britain's University of Liverpool (www.liv.ac.uk) to establish the 'Libyan Business School'. According to the NEDB, the school would be of an 'international standard’ enabling Libyans to obtain a masters degree in business administration (MBA). The business school will also be looking to attract students from neighbouring countries instead of having to send them to Europe. Teaching would be conducted in English, the NEDB reported.

Mediterranean Games: Very Narrow Defeats for Libyan Beach Volley Players |

On the fourth day of the 16th edition of the Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Italy, it was time for the Libyan beach volley players and golfers to make their debut. Though the bBach Volley lost all their matches in the preliminaries, they at least fought well and were never humiliated. They will again be in action today in three more matches. |

On Day 3 of the 16th Mediterranean Games in Pescara, Libya’s representatives in the Men’s and Doubles Singles Tennis events failed to make any progress and suffered three first round defeats while our swimmers continued to bring up the rear in most of the events they took part in. Libyan athletes Friday took part in the opening ceremony of the 16th edition of the Mediterranean Games at the Stadio Adriatico in Pescara, Italy, on an occasion that represented the will to come back to life of the Abruzzo territory after the devastating earthquake a few months ago. The Games that began Friday will be concluded on July 5. |
