The International Higher Education Support Program comprises the following focus areas. 

Current Focus Areas

Academic Fellowship Program
The Academic Fellowship Program contributes to higher education reform by supporting promising local scholars and assisting progressive universities in South Eastern Europe, parts of the former Soviet Union, and Mongolia.

Central Asia Research and Training Initiative
The Central Asia Research and Training Initiative promotes the development of indigenous capacities for original scholarly work and internationalization of scholarship in Central Asia.

Central European University Outreach Programs
Central European University offers a set of outreach opportunities for educators, run through the support of the OSI International Higher Education Support Program.

HESP Mobility Program
The HESP Mobility Program is designed to support visits to and from HESP network institutions.

HESP Regional Seminar for Excellence in Teaching (ReSET)
The Regional Seminar for Excellence in Teaching program promotes and nurtures university-level teaching excellence in the social sciences and humanities in in Central, Eastern, and South Eastern Europe; the former Soviet Union; and Mongolia.

Institutional Support
The International Higher Education Support Program's strategy for institutional support involves both financial assistance and proactive engagement with institutions in a number of priority areas.

Student Initiatives
The International Higher Education Support Program supports student initiatives aimed at building democratic, inclusive, and transparent systems of higher learning.

Past Focus Areas

Central Asia Research Initiative (2001-2005)
The Central Asia Research Initiative aimed at promoting progressive scholarship and teaching, and fostering international academic cooperation in the social sciences and humanities in the post-Soviet countries of Central Asia and Mongolia.

Research Support Scheme
The Research Support Scheme supported innovative, high-quality research in social sciences and humanities.

Southeast European Faculty Development Program
The Southeast European Faculty Development Program focused on strengthening the teaching skills and upgrade the academic standards of young scholars in social sciences and humanities through regional and international partnerships, exchange and cooperation.
