The Open Eye for the Safeguard and the Security of Citizens

 Introduction

As part of Nablus Municipality policy to protect citizens' lives and properties, Nablus Municipality Fire Brigades (NMFB) was established in 1958 and comprised then of five members and one firefighting vehicle. Being distinctive in the West Bank, NMFB rendered services not only to Nablus city, but it covered a number of towns and villages until 1986. A significant development took place in 1994 when a new ideal firefighting brigades premises was constructed in order to serve Nablus and surrounding villages and towns . In 1995 another centre was established in the east part of Nablus to render immediate firefighting services to east industrial zone, refugee camps and surrounding villages, and in 1997 a western firefighting centre was established to render services to west and south parts of Nablus.

Today, NMFB comprises of 70 firefighters working round the clock and render different services to citizens in addition to firefighting such as rescue works in case of traffic incidents and natural disasters.

Location
 
NMFB main premises is located in the city centre close to the police station. In addition, there are two sub branches one in the west part of Nablus , and another in the east part.
