Babcock Hall
Babcock Hall
Babcock Hall (1935), the gift of Birt E. Babcock, of the class of 1894, is a co-educational program building. Recently renovated, Babcock Hall will re-open in the fall of 2009 and is the home of the Cross Cultural Living Experiences Program (CCLEP). Residents include international (40%) and domestic (60%) students who have expressed their desire for a cross-cultural living experience. Residents should be interested in broadening their understanding of world issues, sharing their culture; and learning about other cultures. Many residents are interested in foreign languages, cultural area studies, overseas study and travel, the various aspects of international relations.
The program is strengthened by the expectation that its residents actively participate in the organization and implementation of cross-cultural programming. Such an environment serves to further enhance the building of an inter-culture community. Programming includes a regular hall meeting with student speakers and cultural activities; celebrations of holidays from around the world; and discussions of international issues led by faculty and distinguished campus visitors.
