Applications will be accepted through January 15, 2010.
Applicants for the M.A. program in Democracy and Governance hold Bachelor's degrees in a variety of fields, including Political Science, Government, Business, History, Sociology, Communications, Economics, and regional studies. Many also have significant professional and overseas experience. The GRE is required for all applicants. For non-native English speaking applicants, the TOEFL is required in addition to the GRE.

In order to be complete, applications must include the following:
  • CV or résumé
  • Official copy of undergraduate transcript
  • Official copy of graduate transcript (if applicable)
  • GRE and/or TOEFL scores
  • Statement of purpose (approximately 500 words)
  • Academic writing sample
  • Three (3) letters of recommendation
  • Georgetown Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Application Form
  • Application fee
Students may enroll part-time.  Many courses are offered in the evening to accommodate students who work. 
Admissions are conducted once per year, for fall enrollment. See Government Department Admissions for more details.
