  • | UK offshore winners 8 January, 2010

    The UK has announced the winners of the 30GW round 3 offshore wind licencing round. Many were already known from the rumour mill since September (PFI issue 418) and are now confirmed. SSE/RWE has won the biggest site, the 9W Dogger Bank site, while SP/Vattenfall has won the best site, the 7.2GW Norfolk Bank. Centrica has won 4.2GW in the Irish Sea and Mainstream has won 4GW off Hornsea. EdP, Sea Energy and RWE are the other winners.

            United Technologies Corporation (UTC) has agreed to purchase just under 50% of Clipper Windpower for £126.5m in stock. The two-phase subscription is to be concluded in January 2010.
