Development Partners to provide USD450m to Ghana in general budget support for 2010 Development Partners have indicated approximately USD450m in support of the Government’s budget for 2010. This follows a joint annual review of Multi-Donor Budget Support between the Government and DPs of progress under the Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy II. (December 18, 2009)

Japan Assists Ghana with Food Aid Japan has provided a food package of 16,035 tonnes of rice to Ghana as part of its official assistance towards meeting the country’s food requirements. Parliament to Establish Budget Office Majority Leader of the fifth Parliament of the fourth Republic of Ghana, Hon S. K Bagbin has hinted that come next year, the government will facilitate the establishment of a budget office upon passing the Budget Act. (December 16, 2009)

Technical meeting held for smooth introduction of Eco Members of the Technical Committee for the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) on Monday held a meeting to discuss measures critical for a smooth introduction of a common currency, the Eco, by 2015. The Committee, which is made up of representatives from the Central Banks of member countries, Ministries of Finance, Trade, Integration and Foreign Affairs, is expected to submit a working document which would advise the Committee of Governors for WAMZ for action.
