How to redeem invalid notes

The Riksbank's regulations on the redemption of notes and coins

The Riksbank's regulations (RBFS 2009:1) on the redemption of banknotes and coins stipulate the following:

1 § The Riksbank will redeem damaged and mutilated genuine notes on condition that the Riksbank deems that there is no reason to assume that:

a) the note was acquired by criminal means, or
b) the redemption procedure may conceal that someone has profited as the result of criminal activity.

 

How to redeem invalid banknotes

If you want to redeem invalid banknotes, send them together with the completed form (see the link below), preferably by registered post, to:

The Riksbank charges

The Riksbank charges a fee of SEK 100 for each case, regardless of how many banknotes are involved or the size of the amount to be redeemed. The Riksbank does not redeem banknotes to a value of SEK 100 or less.  It may take approximately four weeks before the money is credited to your account.
