  Governance

The Ledding Library is a department of the City of Milwaukie. As such, the Milwaukie City Council and the City Manager are responsible for the overall operation of the Ledding Library. The Ledding Library Board, a group of seven citizens, acts as an advisory group to the City Council.

The Ledding Library is also part of the Library District of Clackamas County. The city libraries within Clackamas County have banded together in order to give the best possible service to the people of Clackamas County. An agency called LINCC (the Library Information Network of Clackamas County) was formed over 30 years ago to provide library services that can be done more cheaply and efficiently by a centralized agency. For example, the courier service that delivers interlibrary loan materials throughout the county is funded by LINCC as is the computer system that we use as a card catalog and circulation module.

Funding

There are two major funding sources for the Ledding Library. During Fiscal Year (FY) 2009-2010, the library is slated to receive $1,378,034  from the City's general fund. Approximately $904,147 of this amount will be transferred back to the City to cover administrative and facilities costs. The Ledding Library is scheduled to receive approximately $875,000 from the District In addition, we'll take in about $57,000 in fines and fees and over $5,000 in grants.
