Present: Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez
A Harvard Kennedy School of Government graduate, Mr. Lopez served two terms as Mayor of Chacao, a municipality in Caracas and was the runner-up for best World Mayor in 2008 by The World Mayor Organization. Considered one of the most popular politicians in the country, Mr. Lopez was stricken of his right to run for political office after a questionable judicial decision in 2008. Nonetheless, he has emerged as the figurehead of the Venezuelan opposition against the government of President Hugo Chavez. This year, Mr. Lopez has launched a new political movement which he hopes to convert in a platform for new ideas and solutions for the nation.
